The 2024-25 season could be the last time the Sharks play out of the SAP Center in San Jose, as a new report has revealed they could be relocating.
Even if the Sharks do leave San Jose, they will not be leaving the Bay Area. The agreement the team has with the city of San Jose will be changing "unfavorably", which may force them out of the SAP Center arena. President of the Sharks Jonathan Becher was the one who confirmed this.
"If...[SAP Center] doesn't work out, we would look at other places in San Jose first, and then, the rest of the Bay Area."
Prez @jbecher thinks #SJSharks should work out new arena management agreement w/ city, but if not, they're committed to Bay Area
The cities of Oakland and San Francisco are two of the top front runners to land the Sharks beginning at the 2025-26 season if the team does end up leaving San Jose. Similar changes in the Bay Area have happened in other sports too, most recently the Golden State Warriors leaving Oakland, but remaining in the region to play out of San Francisco.
Sharks fans have endured a rough patch over the last half a decade, and just as it appeared things were turning the corner, this unfortunate update was announced. The wild ride for fans and the team is not over yet.
