Comtois was a second round pick (50th overall) by the Anaheim Ducks in 2011. He had 38 goals and 87 points in 211 games. Unlike Kuznetsov, he leaves having never won a Stanley Cup, which his fellow compatriot accomplished in 2018 with the Washington Capitals.
After failing in his tryout with the Vegas Golden Knights, Comtois spent most of last season with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL, where he was released from a professional tryout. In 45 games with the Wolves, he had to score 12 goals and 28 points.
In March, he persuaded the Carolina Hurricanes to give him a two-way contract for the remainder of the season, but he only ended up playing one game for them before being sent back to the minors again. Ultimately, the 25 year-old never found his footing in the show and is now returning home. We wish him the best of luck in his remaining professional hockey endeavors.
