Talks of Shane Wright becoming a bust are quietly rising after a coaching decision that had Wright sidelined.
Coaches' Decision Raises Concern About Wright's Potential As A Draft Bust
After a disappointing OHL playoffs run that had Shane Wright's number one seed Windsor Spitfires swept by an eight seed, Wright headed back to the AHL where he was most productive in professional play this past season.
Wright had 4 goals and 6 points in his AHL stint earlier this season where it was seen as a fantastic development trip. However, heading back to the AHL has not been as fruitful for Wright.
The 2022 4th overall pick is undoubtedly the most talented member of the Coachella Valley Firebirds but despite this, he has only registered 4 points in 12 games and was recently a healthy scratch.
Wright only had three points in four games of the OHL playoffs and now questions are being raised on if Wright can shine when the lights are bright. His scoring paces fall off a cliff in postseason play which may be a sign of Wright stat padding against easy competition.
