Dan Bylsma, the newly appointed head coach of the Seattle Kraken, just dropped a bombshell during his opening press conference.

He announced that his assistant coach in the AHL, Jessica Campbell is being considered for a spot on his coaching staff.
New #SeaKraken head coach Dan Bylsma tells reporters in Seattle that Jessica Campbell will be considered for a job on his coaching staff.

There's never been a full-time female assistant coach in the NHL before.
Now, if you're wondering who Jessica Campbell is, you're not alone. She's not exactly a household name in the hockey world. Yet if she lands this gig, she'll make history as the NHL's first full-time female assistant coach.
Dan Bylsma himself is no stranger to success. He was the bench boss for a Stanley Cup win with the Pittsburgh Penguins back in 2009. After a stint as an assistant coach with the Red Wings, he took on coaching roles at the AHL level and even led the Coachella Valley Firebirds to the Calder Cup finals last year.
Now, Dan's considering Jessica for a coaching position with the Kraken. It's a move that could shake up the NHL in the best possible way, opening doors for more diversity and inclusion in the sport.
