The Toronto Maple Leafs are set to faceoff against the Seattle Kraken Tonight. Head coach Sheldon Keefe made some significant lineup moves ahead of what could be a critical game for the team.

Giordano And McMann Come Out Of Leafs Lineup Against Seattle Kraken

The veteran Leafs coach decided to healthy scratch his most experienced defenseman in Mark Giordano and his most inexperienced forward in Bobby McMann for the game tonight. Notably, this is the second time Giordano has sat in the second half of a back-to-back in as many opportunities. This could be a strategy to help keep the league's oldest player fresh for the long haul.
Mark Giordano scratched on the second night of a back-to-back for the second weekend in a row.
This does not explain McMann's scratch though. As some fans have pointed out, McMann has not been the team's worst forward at all.
McMann has been better then Gregor by a fair margin
That being said, fans do not run the team. If they did, the Leafs would probably look a lot different. Still though, McMann getting scratched seems like a step backwards for the team. We will just have to wait and see if the move works out for the Leafs tonight. Another loss could put their playoff lives on the line as they continue to slip down the standings on this road trip.
