The Toronto Maple Leafs made it official today as they announced an eight-year contract extension for William Nylander.

Leafs Sign Nylander To Massive Eight-Year Contract Extension

Nylander's ongoing contract negotiations had been arguably the most important storyline surrounding the Leafs this season. The star winger was due to become an unrestricted free-agent for the first time in his career at the end of the season, had he not inked the new deal.
It's official. William Nylander's new 8-year, $11.5M contract is signed and sealed! ✍️

The most fundamental terms are the length and average-annual-value. Of course, both sides wanted long-term security so there is no surprise that the deal was the maximum length of eight years. The cap hit of 11.5 million dollars a season is perhaps a bit steep, but not unexpected given recent reports.

Full Details Of Nylander's New Contract Revealed

According to Elliotte Friedman, the contract contains 69 million dollars to be paid out in the form of bonuses, 27 million of which will be paid out over the course of the first two years.
8x$11.5M. Key details: $69M in bonuses and $27M of contract paid in first two years
Of course, the ever reliable Capfriendly has the full and complete details of the new contract for the highest paid Swede in the NHL. The contract appears to be somewhat front loaded, with Nylander getting larger signing bonus in the first half of the deal as well as a higher salary in the first two years.
The deal also contains a full no-move clause which will go into effect immediately as his current contract was modified as part of the extension.
Minor detail: William Nylander's full NMC for his new 8-year deal applies effective immediate.
It seems then that Nylander got basically everything he was asking for if not more. Now the only question that remains is whether or not he will be able to help lead the Leafs to a Stanley Cup championship before this deal is over.
