The talk of the town right now in Toronto is the huge 8-year, $11.25 million AAV deal for William Nylander, and when asked about his own plans, captain John Tavares gave this juicy update.
After leaving the New York Islanders for Toronto, the Ontario native has captained his home-town team for a number of years, so it's no surprise at all that he wants to continue repping the Maple Leafs.
While things could certainly change between now and the summer of 2025, it appears that Tavares wants to retire with Toronto, but with many improvements needed for the roster, it will be interesting to see how the team improves between now and then.
With the salary cap going up, the Leafs will seemingly have the Core Four for a long-time to come, and now as they chase a Stanley Cup, every move becomes crucial, but this is one more issue that Maple Leafs fans thankfully won't have to worry about.
