During the Winnipeg Jets game, Tyler Bertuzzi had a goal called back in a controversial decision. The NHL's explanation fell short for Leaf fans, who were furious about the reasoning.

Tyler Bertuzzi Has Goal Called Back For Goaltender Intereference

Tyler Bertuzzi is having terrible luck this season, and that seems to have continued during the Jets game the other night. Bertuzzi, who returned to the lineup after the birth of his son, was able to bang in a rebound goal, only to have it called back for goaltender interference.
The ruling on the ice was that William Nylander was interfering with Connor Hellebuyck. However, the video makes a pretty compelling case that Nylander was pushed into Hellebuyck. For that reason, Sheldon Keefe and the Leafs challenged the play. Take a look.
They lost the challenge, costing the Leafs a two-minute delay of game penalty, and left fans furious about the decision.

NHL's Explanation Doesn't Do Much to Settle Leaf Fans

The NHL's explanation of the call didn't do much to settle Leaf fans. In their statement, they said that Nylander was inhibiting Hellebuyck from making the save, which is why the call on the ice stood. Here is their statement.
Explanation:

Video review supported the Referee's call on the ice that Toronto's William Nylander impaired Connor Hellebuyck's ability to play his position in the crease. The decision was made in accordance with Rule 69.1 which states, in part, that "Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper's ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal."
This made fans even more upset, comparing Bertuzzi's play to what happened just a few nights earlier to the Edmonton Oilers and the goal standing.
Either way, it didn't matter much in the bigger picture. The Leafs were able to walk away with a win, winning both against the Jets.
