With the NHL's change in psychology on the ice in recent years, we've seen less and less of the physicality that once defined the game, and as a result, we are now seeing less of the enforcer type players that once dominated the league.
One player who has excelled with his toughness and physical presence is Wayne Simmonds, and after spending the past three years with Toronto, it appears his time in the league is coming to an end.
Despite his lack of overall individual success over the past few years, Simmonds has had a fantastic career, notching over 1,000 games played to go along with a solid 526 points.
At the end of the day, he will go down as one of the most respected players in the NHL of this era, but after just 2 points a season ago, it appears his time in the NHL is all but done.
