Brad Treliving is looking for a new defenseman to strengthen his blue line, and the GM can remove a cadidate's name from the list of possible additions, as he wants nothing to do with the Leafs.

Defenseman Refuses to Play in Toronto

According to David Pagnotta from The Fourth Period, Hurricanes' Brett Pesce doesn't want to be traded to Toronto, even though it could be a great fit for the Leafs.
The Leafs have shown interest in Pesce because they want a reliable player to improve their offensive game, but Pesce has a list of 15 teams he's willing to be traded to, and Toronto isn't one of them.
"Well, they [the Leafs] would like to. They'd like to add a responsible guy because they've added the offensive unit in Klingberg... I want to clear something up too because I've been seeing Pesce all over the place - Brett Pesce in Carolina would be a perfect fit in Toronto. He's exactly what they need... He has a 15-team trade list. Toronto is not on that list.

So, if you want Brett Pesce, I'm sure they can go to him and say - and this is another guy with one year - 'we'd like to sign you to an extension, would you come here? Let's hammer that out,' that might change things. But as of now, Toronto is not one of the teams on Brett Pesce's trade list."

Tough Market

The reason behind this could be that playing for the Leafs is very challenging and comes with a lot of pressure to perform well and win.
Pesce might prefer to stay in Carolina, where he is already a fan favorite, rather than taking on the pressure of playing in Toronto.
Do you think Pesce will play in Carolina until he retires?
