Matt Murray has recently been experiencing a significant slump in his hockey performance, which has left Sheldon Keefe, the Leafs' coach, frustrated.
Keefe Calls Out Murray
In the aftermath of a 5-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, where the Leafs outperformed the Canes with 44-28 shots on goal, Sheldon Keefe needed to blame the loss on somebody.
Murray's terrible .821 save percentage became the clear scapegoat, as it played a key role in the Leafs' loss.
"I thought he did a good job for us. However, it's hard to maintain a winning streak if you have to score more than four goals. Matt has to work on stopping at least one or two of those."
Murray's worrisome .885 save percentage and 3.68 GAA this year indicate that he is no longer a dependable option in net.
Many fans concur that the eleven-game streak may lead to Ilya Samsonov being favoured in the playoffs.
Ultimately, Murray needs to get back on track. If he doesn't, the situation is gonna get very interesting in Toronto.
