The Toronto Maple Leafs play their next game against the New York Islanders tonight at 7PM Eastern time. This morning, Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe provided an important update on one of his players.

Keefe Confirms Lagesson Is Game Time Decision

Keefe confirmed after the Leafs morning skate that defenseman William Lagesson would be a game time decision tonight. The team is currently operating without key defenseman John Klingberg, Mark Giordano, and Timothy Liljegren, making each additional injury on the blueline all the more impactful.

- #Leafs G Ilya Samsonov will start tonight vs #Isles ✅
- D William Lagesson is a "gametime decision"
The 27-year-old defender has been out since the 9th with an illness. Today was the first time he participated in morning skate with the team since he's been under the weather.
Lagesson has done an admirable job filling in for the bigger name blueliners so far this season. In 14 games this season with the Leafs, Lagesson is averaging just over 14 minutes of ice time and he has a single assist. He has a rating on -2. All perfectly fine numbers for essentially an emergency call up.
