The Pittsburgh Penguins have been struggling to string together wins. This has led to speculation that new GM Kyle Dubas will want to bring in his own head coach to right the ship.
Penguins Struggle To Succeed Despite Major Additions
The Pittsburgh Penguins currently are sitting in 7th place in the Metropolitan Division with just 25 points.
This disappointing start is amplified by the fact that the team went all in during the offseason trading for defenseman Erik Karlsson. Despite having excellent goaltending play the Penguins cannot seem to find ways to win.
This is worrying considering the Penguins are centered around their skating talent as opposed to their goaltending. A lack of wins has led many people to question the job security of Mike Sullivan going forward. Today GM Kyle Dubas was able to comment on the situation and give clarity on Sullivan's future.
Dubas Comments On Future Of Sullivan
During a recent press conference, Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas was asked about the job security of Mike Sullivan. While addressing the slow start Dubas confirmed he is excited for the future of the team under Mike Sullivan's leadership.
"Being with Mike Sullivan every day and not only seeing his attention to detail on the systems and with the players, I think we're very fortunate to have Mike," said Dubas to reporters in Pittsburgh on Monday. "Do I think he's the right person for this job, right now and far into the future? I absolutely do."
Dubas' renewed excitement in Sullivan has led many to believe his job is very safe going forward. The Penguins will likely add reinforcements to the roster to surround their key players.
If the Penguins do miss the playoffs there could be a more serious conversation needed in the future.
