Update on Matt Murray Can Give Hope to the Goaltending Woes and Provide help for the Playoffs
Treliving reminded all Leafs fans that they do have a possible option for the playoffs. Matt Murray, who has be on LTIR could be returning soon.
Murray was acquired from the Senators with a part of his salary hit, approximately $4.7 million, when Kyle Dubas was GM in hopes that the Stanley Cup champion would solve Toronto's issues. These dreams were dashed when Murray went on LTIR and his goaltending partner Ilya Samsonov was waived and sent to the Marlies.
But today, Treliving has given an update on Murray that can be promising.

Treliving's Update on Murray: Can He Be Ready for the Playoffs?
Because of the cap situation that Murray would create, even if he does get healthy he probably will not play in the regular season. But if by some miracle he is game ready by Game 1 of the playoffs, he can be the option the Leafs are looking for.
With his playoff experience, he can be considered a better option then Samsonov and Martin Jones. But with Joseph Woll close to returning, it may not matter. Having a seasoned playoff winner as insurance never hurts though.
According to #Leafs GM Brad Treliving, the recovery of Matt Murray has been positive, and he is "doing really well."
"He's got a ways to go, but everything has been really positive in terms of no setbacks. He has been on track and things are going well.
We just want to be careful. There's no pressure to get him going. We want to make sure he goes about it [properly] and when he's ready, he's ready. That's off on the horizon."
The prognosis when Murray had surgery was that he would be out for 6-8 months.

It remains to be seen if Matt Murray can bring back those winning ways in the playoffs. But Toronto fans are hoping for the best.
