After a three-season stint with the Toronto Maple Leafs, during which Wayne Simmonds played 128 games and tallied 27 points, he is now an unrestricted free agent. Some analysts believe he could be headed back to a place that he once called home: Philadelphia.

"If Wayne Simmonds wants to come back to Philly on a PTO, absolutely the Flyers should be interested. No harm in this at all

He told me in 2017 he loves the fans of Philadelphia."
Simmonds is no stranger to Philadelphia; he spent 8 seasons with the Flyers, during which he participated in 584 games and accumulated 378 points. Throughout that period, he was a key player in the organization.

Helping to Rebuild

The Philadelphia Flyers are in a transitional phase, with new General Manager Daniel Briere shaking up the roster and organizational structure. Briere now has the chance to bring back a loved veteran into the young Flyers roster.
Simmonds and Briere were teammates in Philadelphia for approximately two seasons, with Simmonds newly acquired from Los Angeles and Briere concluding his time as a Flyer. This existing rapport could potentially facilitate the transaction.
"The Flyers should sign Wayne Simmonds to a PTO!

Young prospects need to earn ice time. Add Simmer as a leadership piece for the young guys to help them develop. Let him retire as a Flyer."
If the deal happens, it would be a win-win situation: Fans would relish the return of a former favorite, while the team would gain a seasoned leader and physical player. Simmonds would not only contribute on-ice prowess but also mentor the younger players, helping to fortify the rebuilding Flyers franchise.
