A new rumor concerning William Nylander is gaining attention on social media.
Nylander Trade Incoming
The negotiations between William Nylander and the Maple Leafs aren't leading anywhere for now.
If the Leafs and Nylander don't reach a deal before the trade deadline, they'll likely part ways. Treliving probably won't risk losing him on the free-agent market.
Trading him at the deadline could be good timing to get the biggest return possible.
If the GM can get a top defenseman for him, only weeks ahead of the playoffs, that could be a smart move.
Nylander in St. Louis?
Here, the St. Louis Blues would get Nylander:
"To St. Louis Blues RW – William Nylander ($6.96 million a year, free agent next summer)
To Toronto Maple Leafs RD – Colton Parayko ($6.50 million a year, under contract for seven more years) LW – Jake Neighbours ($835k with two more seasons until restricted free agency) 1st Round Pick in 2024"
The Leafs would part ways with Nylander, who's about to get a major raise, for a solid defenseman, a prospect, and a first-round pick at the next draft.
If Brad Treliving thinks he can get more in return, he'll likely wait for a better offer. Also, he'll probably favor players with low salaries in order to save money for future free agents.
