A wild brawl broke out last night after Dennis Hildeby was speared while skating off the ice between periods, to which Kyle Clifford responded immediately.

Brawl Breaks Out During Marlies Game When Hildeby is Speared

Full bench-clearing brawls are rarely seen these days in hockey, and it is a sight to be seen when they do happen. While it's not exactly what happened last night, it was pretty close.
During the Marlies game, after the second period came to a close, Boko Imama tried to spark some energy into the Belleville Senators team by spearing Dennis Hildeby as he skated off the ice. This was intentionally done to spark a fight, as Imama was ready to drop the gloves with Kyle Clifford, who immediately jumped him despite the referee's best efforts to keep them separated.
Imama hops onto the ice and runs into Dennis Hildeby as he's leaving the ice
The play was clearly dirt and intending to start something, as you don't touch the goalie even during the game let alone in intermission. While most of the action was between Clifford and Imama, others paired up and jostled a little while the two fought it out on the ice.

Supplimental Punishment Incoming for Imama and Clifford?

It is a big no-no these days to leave the bench during an altercation, and that is what both Clifford and Imama did in this case. Even though it was between periods, Imama wasn't on the ice when the period ended, so there was no reason for him to cross paths with Hildeby. Similarly, Clifford was on the bench during the final seconds and left to go after Imama.
Both players were given misconducts for leaving the bench. Here's what the rules say on the matter.
The first player to leave the players' or penalty bench illegally during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation from either or both teams shall be suspended automatically without pay for the next ten (10) regular League and/or Play-off games of his team.

The second player to leave the players' or penalty bench illegally during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation from either or both teams shall be suspended automatically without pay for the next five (5) regular League and/or Play-off games.

We will see what the League decides to do with Clifford and Imama and if any suspensions are incoming.
