The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to finally take the next step and make a deep Stanley Cup playoff run. Under new head coach Craig Berube things are slated to look different up and down the lineup.
One of the most exciting line combinations early in training camp has been Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies. The two seem to be feeding off of one another and executing not only with the puck but on the forecheck as well.
With the NHL season just a few short weeks away the Maple Leafs are looking to lock in their new lines. As of now, it looks like Auston Matthews will be paired up with Matthew Knies and Mitch Marner. Followed by William Nylander centering Max Domi and Calle Jarnkrok.
The Toronto Maple Leafs fans have been patiently waiting for their team to make a serious deep playoff run. Under Craig Berube there should be no more excuses and that will mean a lot of pressure is put on Auston Matthews, Matthew Knies, and Mitch Marner to set the tone as a first line.
As training camp continues it will be interesting to find out if Craig Berube goes with different line combinations or if he trusts his stars to get the job done.
