This week has been a rollercoaster for Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly. After being suspended by the NHL for his actions against the Ottawa Senators Rielly has a chance to pull off a miracle in his appeal.
Rielly Has A Chance To Pull Off A Miracle With Suspension Appeal
Recently it was announced that Morgan Rielly would be appealing his suspension for his attack on Senators forward Ridly Greig. Many appeals in the NHL end up being a waste of time and do not get reduced or overturned. However, a new report from an NHL insider has indicated the Rielly appeal could be a miracle exception.
New, for @TheAthletic: Why Morgan Rielly has a chance to become the rare NHL player to have his suspension reduced by appeal.
If Rielly can get his suspension reduced it could be huge for the Maple Leafs. Rielly is their top defenseman and each game without him leaves a massive hole in the lineup. While players like Timothy Liljegren have stepped up so far in his absence this won't likely be consistent.
Once Rielly officially has his appeal hearing he and the Maple Leafs will wait for a ruling. When an announcement is made about Rielly's future we will pass the information along to you.
