In breaking news, it has been announced that Morgan Rielly will officially appeal his suspension after being handed a 5 game suspension for cross-checking.

Rielly Will File an Appeal For His 5 Game Suspension As Announced Today

Morgan Rielly is not typically a player who is facing punishment and was even in the conversation for the Lady Byng trophy earlier this season. However, his crosscheck on Ottawa Senators' Ridly Greig has impacted those odds. Despite being a pretty upstanding player, Rielly was given a 5 game suspension for his actions.
Now, it has been announced that Rielly will formally appeal the suspension.
Morgan Rielly will be filing an appeal to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman on his five-game suspension.
Since the appeal is under 6 games, it is dealt with by Gary Bettman. If it was 6 or more, it could be appealed to an independent arbiter.
More details to come when the appeal is heard.
