There are few rivalries if any better than that between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins in the NHL. Tonight we got to see another classic instalment in their hatred for each other.

Chaos Breaks Out After Cross Check On Marchand

Early in the 1st period these teams showed their hatred for each other. Clearly, they did not want to wait for things to get heated as Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe gave Brad Marchand a cross check up high. Following the play, a scrum enveloped all the players on the ice apart from the goalies.
Many Leafs fans were very enthusiastic about the sequence even if the penalties proved to be costly for the team. Most will still remember Marchand's slew foot on Timothy Liljegren earlier in the season, making this a long time coming.

Marchand gets Scolded By Referee

After the chaos died down, Bruins captain Brad Marchand was seen discussing events with one of the referees. He appeared to be saying how McCabe's cross check got him in the face, but the ref was not very sympathetic to his cause. In fact, it is quite easy to lip read what the official was saying to him and it is quite funny.
«Put your stick down, ok»

Marchand gets disciplined like a little kid. 😄
All of that being said, the Bruins did score on the ensuing powerplay, giving them an early 1-0 lead.
Late in the First period, the Bruins maintain their one-goal advantage over the Leafs. The rest of the game should be quite entertaining though as tensions are still high with this game having major playoff implications for both teams.
