After another disappointing playoff performance and his contract coming up in 2025, this off-season, the impression given by many is that it's a matter of when, not if Mitch Marner is traded by the Toronto Maple Leafs. There's been no official report yet of teams having discussions with Toronto about a potential move, but with a no-movement clause, there's been plenty of speculation about where he could be headed.
»I believe there are four teams he would go to. I believe there are a few moreif they are going to try and do this, they are going to try and maximize the value as much as they can (regarding paying signing bonus/signing extension)I think Vegas would be a team he would go to, I think Dallas would be, I think Chicago would be - I don't know how Chicago would work, I don't see a fit there, and I think there is Nashville and a few more he would consider.»
There's still no clear answer on whether things could get done quickly ahead of the draft, or whether this will drag out into the 2024-25 regular season, so at this point, anything could happen. Ultimately though, the NMC gives Marner full power of the situation, and if the two parties both believe it to be the best situation, don't be surprised to see a deal happen in the next few months.
