Carlo Colaiacovo, a former Leaf, revealed on "First up" who he believes should be Matthews' new line mate following the departure of Tyler Bertuzzi to Chicago.

Leafs fans were shocked to hear Colaiacovo state that the Leafs top line next season will see Max Domi join Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. Last season saw the Leafs experiment with Matthew Knies on that top line, but it didn't seem to go as planned as he faced tremendous pressure at such a young age.
"I think the peacock move here would be to look at a first line that has Domi, Matthews and Marner on it, because both of them have had success playing with Auston Matthews.

Domi actually earned a future with the team because of the success he had with Matthews... clearly this group is going to be defined by four forwards. You can't play three of the four forwards on the same line or you're decimating the depth, which is the strength of this team, so the peacock move would be to play Domi with Matthews and Marner because of the success they have all had together."

Not all Leafs fans are likely in agreement with this statement made by Colaiacovo, as many believe Knies deserves another shot on the top line. Knies really excelled in the playoffs when he had more of a bottom-nine forward role, and the Leafs may be reluctant to want to ruin the chemistry there.
