Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Matt Murray appears to finally be healthy after years of injuries, and may be able to help more than people think next season.

When the Leafs announced they were re-signing Matt Murray to a 1-year deal worth $875K, Leafs fans were in shambles, outraged at the fact that the team would sign a consistently injured goaltender. Fans would have preferred Martin Jones to come back as the third string goalie, but he ultimately did not.
Murray missed all of last season due to injuries, and the year prior he had only played 26 games for the Leafs. Murray will likely start third on the depth chart, behind Woll and Stolarz, however as we've seen many times before, goalie injuries are common, and a healthy Murray could prove to be a lot more useful than people think should any one of the other goalies have to miss game time.

No one truly knows just how Murray is going to be used for the Leafs yet, however even if he can provide five or even 10 starts, and win half of those, his salary coming in near the league minimum will be justified. Should any of the other two Leafs goalies miss even more significant time and Murray goes back to his old form he had with the Penguins, then we could have a real goalie controversy in Toronto, which no one would be complaining about, as long as the team is winning.
