The Toronto Maple Leafs have built a solid forward core for their Stanley Cup chase, and now they've signed one promising young player to a one-year extension.

After plenty of movement on the blue line this off-season, the Maple Leafs have now made a solid move in their forward group, extending 25-year old forward Connor Dewar.
#Leafs have signed Connor Dewar: 1x$1.18M
The deal is for one year and carries a cap hit of $1.18 million, a fairly solid deal for both parties after Dewar tallied five points in 17 games for the team a year ago. In the previous two years with Minnesota, the fourth liner put together solid 18 and 14 point campaigns, and with the Leafs needing depth, this is a good move that gives them just that.
DONE DEAL DEWEY 🤝
As of right now, he's expected to play on the fourth line alongside David Kampf and Ryan Reaves, and with consistent playing time, there's no reason that the line can't be one of the most effective fourth lines in the Eastern Conference.
There's still some moves for Toronto to make if they want to be genuine Stanley Cup threats in 2025, but as we saw in Florida, teams need quality depth for cheap, and in Dewar, that's exactly what they are getting.
