The Toronto Maple Leafs have been linked to trade talks for the past few months, and now it appears the discussions are heating up ahead of the deadline. There is no doubt that the Leafs are looking at adding to their blueline, but now discussions are being had that there might be a massive, blockbuster-style deal that changes the look of the Leafs' back end.
The narrative going around today somewhat fits with what we have seen in the past, as the Leafs have had well-reported interest in Calgary Flames defenseman Chris Tanev. The difference, though, is that Tanev's price was previously thought to be just a pick, but talks today have a blockbuster-style deal being considered.
The Leafs have some assets to move around, including a plethora of good prospects. However, we will have to see how risky GM Brad Treliving wants to be in his first season with the team.
