This NHL insider has just revealed some major bad news for the Toronto Maple Leafs trade deadline plans, throwing a wrench in what was previously expected.

Elliotte Friedman Reveals Hanifin Not Interested in Signing in Canada

It's been well reported that the Toronto Maple Leafs are kicking the tires of defensemen around the league, with a particular focus on those defensemen from the Calgary Flames. One of the frontrunners for Toronto was thought to be Noah Hanifin, given Toronto's need for a top-pairing defenseman and Brad Trelving's previous relationship with him.
However, Elliotte Friedman has revealed that Hanifin is not interested in signing in Canada, effectively ruining Toronto's plans to trade for him.

Toronto Will Have to Look Elsewhere For Defensemen and Could Look at Ferraro

One of the previously reported interests of the Leafs was Mario Ferraro of the San Jose Sharks. Ferraro isn't likely as skilled as the Leafs would have liked to see, but, he does give them another depth, stay-at-home defensive option.
We will see who Brad Treliving is looking to bring in, and what exactly he is willing to give up in order to do so.
