Without a doubt Brad Treliving has his hands full ahead of the deadline this year. The Maple Leafs have left a lot to desire this year in the eyes of many and will surely need to bolster their squad up for playoffs.

Unfortunate News Released About 3 Shutdown Defenseman That Were On The Leafs Radar

It has been known that the Leafs have defensive flaws within their game and with the never ending injuries to their back end the main source of additions the Leafs are hoping to get are on the blue line.
However it was revealed that the Seattle Kraken who have Jamie Oleksiak, Adam Larson and Will Borgen as shutdown defenseman will not be looking to trade these guys away according to Elliotte Friedman.
The Seattle Kraken are just outside of the playoffs sitting seven points back of the final wild card spot and will look to try and make a push in rather then sell off at the deadline.
The Leafs have been eying these three defenseman over the past couple weeks but with these 3 off the market who is left for the Leafs?

Other Potential Deadline Adds That Make Sense For The Leafs

With the Leafs main target Chris Tanev being traded to Dallas last week the defense market continues to thin out. Tanev's former teammate Noah Hanifin is considered to be the top target left on the market but Hanifin is more known for his offensive capabilities.
The Flyers may be the team that makes the most sense now with them having Sean Walker and Nick Seeler both may be traded or signed but the Flyers haven't decided what they are going to do.
If the Flyers make the choose to trade either one of these defenseman the Leafs should be heavily pursuing them.
