Forward From The 2018 Canadian World Junior Team Gets A New Contract

The Carolina Hurricanes have made a major roster move just days ahead of the NHL trade deadline. According to several reports they have signed forward Maxime Comtois who was previously a free agent.
#Canes have signed free agent forward Max Comtois to a one-year, two-way contract. $775K NHL / $250K AHL. #CauseChaos

Comtois played on the controversial 2018 World Junior team but was not implicated in the scandal. He was also the captain of the Canadian team the next season after as well at the World Juniors.
In his NHL career things have not been as smooth for Comtois. After a breakout season with the Anaheim Ducks, he has struggled to live up to expectations. He was not signed over the offseason but now will have an opportunity to play.
The Hurricanes will likely start Comtois out in the AHL. They currently do not have their own affiliate team but share with another NHL franchise. If Comtois impresses in the AHL he could see time on the NHL club down the stretch and into the post season.
