The Toronto Maple Leafs and Max Pacioretty have agreed to terms on a new deal. The former NHL captain will be donning the blue and white next season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were rumored to be considering offering Max Pacioretty a professional tryout (PTO), but instead, they've opted to sign him to a standard contract.
Max Pacioretty is expected to slot into the Leafs' top-six forward lineup, likely joining John Tavares and Mitch Marner. His extensive experience and leadership will be extremely valuable for the team's younger players, which will also take some of the load off John Tavares' back.
A former Montreal Canadiens captain, Max Pacioretty was selected 22nd overall in the first round of the 2007 NHL Draft. Over his career, he has appeared in 902 NHL games, firing off 330 goals and 338 assists, totaling 668 points. Last season, he struggled with injuries, managing just 47 games with the Washington Capitals, where he scored four goals for a total of 23 points. Now with the Leafs, he's aiming to bounce back and have a big year.
