Recent social media post from Auston Matthews creates panic among Leafs fans

The post featured the two player's dogs, who were set to have a playdate. Obviously though, Keller and Matthews themselves must have also been spending some time together this summer.

One fan reported that the two forwards were also sighted at a UFC fight together last month.

Understandably, this has lead to some speculation about the future of the two players in the NHL. Some have suggested that Auston Matthews could potentially be traded to Utah while others believe it is more likely Keller gets moved to the Maple Leafs.

After all, Keller was one of the players linked to the Leafs in the Mitch Marner trade rumors that dominated headlines earlier this summer, with Utah Hockey Club being one of the teams reportedly interested in the Leafs winger. That being said, Keller and Matthews are buddies that go way back. Both played for the USNTDP prior to getting drafted to the NHL. They also were teammates several times, representing the United States at multiple World Junior Championships. As such, this 'playdate' was likely just part of two old friends reconnecting during their down time. Granted, it would be pretty awesome to see Matthews and Keller play for the same team in the NHL, but that would likely only ever happen if Keller somehow made his way to Toronto.
