A New Contract for Beloved Leafs Player on the Horizon.

A deal between the Toronto Maple Leafs and fan-favourite defenseman, Luke Schenn, appears to be on the verge of fruition.
NHL Reporter Rick Dhaliwal brings word that negotiations for Schenn's contract extension are drawing to a close.
Schenn, 33, recently rejoined the Leafs after his stint with the Vancouver Canucks, marking his first return to Toronto since he left the team in 2012.
As a prospect, Luke Schenn was picked 5th overall by the Leafs during the 2008 draft and has since held a special place in the hearts of the fans.

Toronto Re-Signing of Schenn Imminently

Schenn has proven his value to the team beyond the scoreboard, embodying the leadership qualities that hold the locker room together.
Schenn's re-signing appears imminent, though the specifics of the deal remain elusive. It's speculated that the terms will likely favor a short-term contract, though no official confirmation has been made.
During his brief return this season, Schenn, a right-handed Defenseman, scored 1 point in 15 games. In total, he has played 325 games for the Leafs, with the majority of them, 310 games, during his tenure from 2009 to 2012.
