Sheldon Keefe provides an updated timeline for Mitch Marner's return

In his most recent interview, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe spoke about Mitch Marner's return to practice. During his remarks, Sheldon Keefe confirmed the next steps for Mitch Marner in his recovery.

Mitch Marner has been absent from the Toronto Maple Leafs lineup for close to a month now. What was supposed to be a day to day injury has turned more severe. Today the Maple Leafs and their fans got some positive news as Mitch Marner returned to practice.

This return to practice created a lot of excitement for Maple Leafs fans. Many were hoping to hear that Mitch Marner would be returning to the lineup in the next couple of days. Instead, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe sang a different tune.

During his post-practice press conference, Sheldon Keefe was of course asked about Mitch Marner. To the disappointment of the fans, Sheldon Keefe confirmed Mitch Marner will need more practice before returning to the lineup.

So, Marner will remain sidelined through Monday's game against the Panthers

Toronto's next practice is Tuesday
With Mitch Marner not returning until at least Tuesday the Toronto Maple Leafs will need to find ways to fill that hole in the lineup for at least another game or two. Luckily it sounds as though Mitch Marner will be back for the playoffs which is more than can be said for defenseman Timothy Liljegren who was injured earlier this week.
