This past week, the Edmonton Oilers saw both
Philip Broberg and
Dylan Holloway tendered offer sheets by the St. Louis Blues, and after the seven day period, the team decided not to match, losing two of their most important young players. Now, given the status of RFA Nick Robertson, there have been fears in Toronto that this could happen to them, but a recent report from Editor in Leaf has revealed that teams around the league aren't willing to take the chance.
This is good news for the Maple Leafs, and given that Robertson has already asked for a trade this off-season, it gives them potentially one less hurdle to jump if they are to move the talented 22-year old.
Despite playing well in 56 games a year ago, notching 14 goals and 27 points in a limited role, the Maple Leafs had to use Robertson's contract to their advantage, and ultimately, this led to many moves between the Marlies and the NHL throughout the year. Unsurprisingly, this frustrated the former second-round pick, to the point where he officially asked for a trade this summer, and whether or not that happens, only time will tell, but from all accounts, it appears the team won't have to worry about an offer sheet anytime soon.
