After a combined 4-1 start to the season, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks have now officially made the first notable trade of the 2023-24 NHL season.
A talented player swap
As reported by Elliotte Friedman, the team have now sent two players to the other squad, with the Penguins landing the talented Jack Rathbone in the deal while Vancouver land 27-year old Mark Friedman.
Neither of these teams will be immediately transformed by this deal, but it's a good move for depth that could pay off in the long-term, and this could ultimately end up being a rare win-win trade, which doesn't happen often in sports these days.
