Today the Vegas Golden Knights made a move that many feel cheats the rules of the NHL. They are once again using Long Term Injured Reserve to go over the salary cap for the playoffs.

The Vegas Golden Knights made a controversial roster move today as the team activated trade deadline piece Tomas Hertl from LTIR. Tomas Hertl had not played this season with the Golden Knights due to an injury but now will return for the last couple of games. In a corresponding move they placed William Carrier on LTIR.
#VegasBorn have retroactively placed F William Carrier on LTIR in order to create the space needed to activate Tomas Hertl.
While this move in itself is not an issue it creates a bigger issue in the playoffs. This is because William Carrier along with Jack Eichel and Mark Stone who are on LTIR can return in the playoffs and not count against the salary cap. This means the team can essentially cheat the intent of the rules and spend as much as they want. This strategy has been used in the past by Vegas and many fans are fed up with it.
Such a Vegas thing to do.
They can't keep getting away with this!
As of now, the NHL has not announced any plans to change this rule. However, if the Vegas Golden Knights win back-to-back Stanley Cups using this strategy there might be an outcry for change.
