The last time the Flames and Blue Jackets played each other, chaos ensued fallowing the final whistle. Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson picked up a match penalty on the last play of the game for a play that ended up getting him in trouble with the league.

Andersson's Late Hit On Laine Earns Four-Game Suspension

Andersson has since served the four game sentence, but not before the Flames appealed the decision. Gary Bettman ultimately upheld the decision, making the Flame's appeal pointless.
While Andersson missed 4 games, Laine actually missed more than that due to the injury. He played his first game back tonight since the October 20th incident.

Laine Vows To Get Revenge On Andersson

The Flames and the Blue Jackets do not play again until January 25th, but rest assured Laine has not forgotten about the incident and neither have his teammates. When asked about the play, Laine called the hit "unnecessary" while also hinting that Andersson will get what is coming to him.
Patrik Laine said the hit that took him out of the lineup -- and led to a suspension for Calgary's Rasmus Andersson -- was "unnecessary."

Laine: "The only thing I have to say, I'm pretty excited to play him in January. I'll just leave it at that." #CBJ
Laine has just one career fight. It was a relatively decent tilt with Brandon Hagel all the way back in February of 2021.
