Tonight a rivalry in the Western Conference has resumed. In the heat of battle, the St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets were looking to gain momentum. As a result both the Blues and Jets captains decided to drop their gloves.

Rivalry Leads To A Rarely Seen Fight Between Two Captains

Early in the first period between the Blues and Jets each team was trying to gain an edge on the other. In a seemingly random moment Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry and St. Louis Blues captain Brayden Schenn challenged one another to a fight.
CAPTAIN FIGHT

Adam Lowry and Brayden Schenn drop the gloved in a heated tilt.
Both players got in a few good punches before things were broken up and they were met with raucous applause while being taken to the penalty box. Adam Lowry would head to the locker room to attend to some issues that cropped up during the fight.
Not sure exactly why, but #NHLJets captain Adam Lowry and #STLBlues captain Brayden Schenn just dropped the gloves at centre ice.

Lowry scored the takedown, but went to the room instead of the penalty box, presumably for some kind of repairs.
At the time of the penalties, the score was deadlocked at zero. By the end of the first period, the scoring explosion had happened with the Jets up 3-1. With a lot of time left in the game, it will be fun to see if the Blues can gain the momentum back. In such an intense battle another fight could be the medium for a momentum shift.
