That Edmonton Oilers versus Colorado Avalanche game on Saturday night, showed hockey fans why another playoff series between these two would be fantastic.
It had everything including
Josh Manson and Vincent Desharnais got into a heavyweight fight during the game. The Avalanche showed their toughness, especially in the final minute of the second period when things got heated. Desharnais and Manson went at it, exchanging some heavy blows. It was wild seeing them tumble to the ice, then quickly get back up before the refs could intervene. Manson seemed to land more shots, but Desharnais got in some solid uppercuts too.

Intense Finish: Oilers vs Avalanche

As for the rest of the game,
major props to Oilers' goalie Stuart Skinner for standing tall and making some incredible saves. He's come a long way in the past couple of years. In Saturday's game, Skinner saved 40 out of 43 shots, boasting a .930 save percentage.
Yet let's not forget about Sean Walker from the Avalanche. The trade deadline defenseman acquisition had a breakout game, netting two goals, and could've had a hat trick if luck was on his side in overtime, but he rang iron.
Yet his overall game performance was solid, leading the team in some key stats. Walker's impressive performance included a remarkable 63.16 CF% (Corsi For Percentage) according to Natural Stat Trick.
As for another one of their trade deadline acquisitions Casey Mittelstadt, from the Buffalo Sabres, he was a game-changer for the Avalanche's second line. His assist on Walker's goal and relentless play around the net made a difference. His backchecking skills were top-notch, helping to disrupt Edmomton's ' play. Mittelstadt's impact was felt throughout the game, including his ability to generate scoring chances and hit the post multiple times.
Finally, there was the showdown between Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid, as both came to play.
MacKinnon showed his stuff, drawing double teams and making some incredible plays, including that game-winning assist to Artturi Lehkonen in the drying seconds of overtime to clinch a 3-2 win for Colorado.
Both superstars and MVP candidates got some special attention, but just like the 2022 Western Conference finals, MacKinnon came out on top this time with some help from Lehkonen.
