The top levels of junior hockey can provide some highly entertaining and spirited contests. However, the players are still kids and that much is clear. Sometimes players make immature actions that you don't typically see in pro hockey. Recently, one USHL player got caught doing a brutal slash which lead to some serious consequences.
Omaha Lancers defenseman David Posma forgot how to play hockey in his last game in a moment that he will likely regret over the next few months. Sioux City Musketeers forward Kaden Shahan had a breakaway with the empty net, surely leading to an empty net goal. However, Posma was just a step behind and he decided to do something that is ill advised. He made repeated, violent slashes on Shahan until the forward relented and fell to the ice.
The league responded with a historic suspension, as they gave Posma 17 games. It is the longest suspension in league history. As the Lancers have just 24 games left in the season, Posma will miss virtually the entire rest of the season.
