Sabres Announce Thompson Will Miss Significant Time With Injury
Star center and franchise icon Tage Thompson has been one of the best stories to come out of Buffalo in recent years. Unfortunately for him and his team, he will be out long-term after he suffered a leg injury in tonight's game against the Bruins. NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman was first to report the news.

The Sabres are just 7-8-1 so far this season. With their best forward and arguably second most important player in Thompson going down for a significant period of time, the team may very well find it difficult to climb into the playoff race. The team is technically only one point of of the second wild card spot but they sit 7th in the Atlantic division with many teams ahead of them in the wild card race.
Without Thompson, the Sabres could be done for yet again this season. Hopefully, the team will find a way to remain competitive even with this brutal news.
