Johnson's Friend and Teammate Defends Petgrave After Racist Comments

Following the tragic incident involving Adam Johnson, the other player involved, Matt Petgrave, has been the target of offensive and racist remarks. Stepping up in defense, one of Johnson's teammates, who was present during the accident, has shared his perspective on social media.
1/2 I need to address something about the accident. We wholeheartedly stand with Matt Petgrave. The hate that Matt is receiving is terrible and completely uncalled for. I was at ice level on the bench closest to the accident, I saw both players moving fast.

2/2 The unintentional clip of the Panther player's leg by the Sheffield player caused the somersault. It's clear to me his actions were unintentional and anyone suggesting otherwise is mistaken. Let's come together and not spread unwarranted hate to someone who needs our support
At such a sensitive time, Michaud's message emphasizes the importance of unity among hockey fans, especially in supporting someone like Petgrave.

Michaud's Plea: The Need for Understanding and Compassion

In these challenging times, Michaud's gesture of sharing such a message, especially when he himself is mourning, deserves recognition.
Tremendous respect for Westin, who was Adam Johnson's teammate this year. Today has been a bizarre exercise in attacking someone in the absence of facts or context. For Westin to do this amid certain grief and shock is an act of grace and compassion that so many seem to lack.
Westin Michaud, player on the Nottingham Panthers, and teammate of Adam Johnson, who passed away after taking a skate to the throat from Matt Petgrave, has spoken out.

Michaud is calling for the hate towards Petgrave to stop, and says the entire play was a freak accident.

There you have it, the cowards watching a pixelated video and calling for the head of Petgrave should come to a full stop. Michaud saw the entire play unfold in front of his eyes.

Those who doubt about the event and Petgrave's intentions should trust the word of someone who was present at the scene.
