Following another impressive season in 2022-23 with the Vegas Golden Knights, Phil Kessel has made it clear he wants to stay in the game. And it seems that wish might soon be realized.

Kessel Back in the NHL?

Last season season, Kessel extended his ironman record to an impressive 1,064 consecutive games, starting from his NHL debut. Despite being sidelined for a significant part of the Knights' Stanley Cup journey, he demonstrated that he's still a force to be reckoned with on the ice.
Insider from NHL, Elliotte Friedman, shared that Kessel is eager to continue his NHL journey in 2023-24 and even beyond. He also mentioned that Kessel is prepared to let go of his ironman record if that's what it takes to be part of a team this year.

Major Development on Kessel's Future

We're into the second and third weeks of the 2023-24 season, and Kessel is yet to sign with a team. However, TSN's Chris Johnston suggests this could change in the near future, given the growing interest in the seasoned forward.
He's been skating on his own. He didn't want to go to any training camps on a try-out but it sounds as though he's had a couple close calls with contracts in the past week or two and there is an expectation that he will join a team.

He just wants to be a member of a team and continue living the dream.

This update is promising for Kessel's admirers. With a commendable performance of 14 goals and 36 points last season, he's shown he's still capable of competing at the highest tier and fans are eager to see him do just that this year.
