PK Subban recently opened up about his experience playing for Hockey Canada and made some serious accusations against the organization in a recent documentary.

Subban Says That Hockey Canada Asked Him to Stop Celebrating His Goals

During his playing days, PK Subban was one of the best offensive defensemen in the game. He was also one of the flashiest, but that was a well-deserved product of his skill on the ice, not unlike many other stars in the NHL.
His skill landed him a spot on Team Canada's Olympic roster in 2014. However, Subban has now opened up about the selection process in a recent documentary, noting that they asked him to change his personality if he wanted to play for Canada.
CBCGEM- In the NHL, P.K. Subban was blasted for his showy style on the ice, and told that he couldn't celebrate scoring goals if he was going to play for Team Canada.

A lifelong Canadian, P.K. was told "it wasn't how Canadians were supposed to conduct themselves."

Surely, Subban's skill alone was enough to land him a spot on that roster, so it's hard to disagree that if it weren't for the colour of his skin, that conversation would likely have never occurred.

Subban Continues to Fight for Diversity in Hockey Through Diversity Coalition

Subban has always used his voice to try and push the game of hockey to be more diverse and to make it for the better. Recently, he has done so by joining the NHL's Player Inclusion Coalition. The Coalition has the mission to advance equality and inclusion in hockey through a range of perspectives across players of color, LGBTQIA+ and allies.
#NJDevils P.K. Subban listed as a co-chair alongside Anson Carter of the Player Inclusion Committee (PIC).

HBSE President Hugh Weber sits as a member of the Executive Inclusion Council.
It's clear that PK Subban will continue to use his voice to stand up for what is right in order to make hockey a game for everyone.
