Darren Dreger has reported that Patrick Kane and his team aren't likely to talk with teams until the end of October, long after the season officially starts. This is because Kane is set to receive more medical information on his recovery from hip surgery during the middle of October.
Kane is definitely still a valuable asset and will garner a pretty penny this season despite his injury status and age. However, this will pose some issues for many teams as they sit tight against the salary cap.
Kane is also still just 34 years old, which means he will not be eligible for a 35+ year-old contract. Despite this, rumours of several teams with significant interest have surfaced, including the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
