This is particularly probable given the projected surge in the salary cap. But the Leafs have their plate full; they need to secure signatures from Captain John Tavares and top scorer Mitch Marner for the forthcoming season.

Addressing the rumours of possibly taking a pay cut, Nylander reiterated that the ball is in the court of Leafs GM Brad Treliving and his agent, Lewis Gross.

Emphasizing his calm approach, Nylander stated, "Let Brad and my agent get into the nitty-gritty of the contract. Both parties know where they stand. Why the rush? I've still got a year on my current deal."

Finishing the last season with a career-best tally of 40 goals, 47 assists, and an impressive 87 points in 82 games, Nylander remains focused. He's keen on letting his on-ice performance speak for itself, influencing his value for the upcoming negotiations.
