In their report, police officers confirmed that Higgins drank "five or six beers" before taking his car on August 29th, the date of the incident.
Considering how much attention this case has been getting, no mercy will be shown to Higgins, who will likely receive close to the maximum sentence for his crime. The 43-year-old man could be released from prison as an elderly man, spending the rest of his best years in jail.
The Gaudreaus' deaths shook the whole sports community, even outside of hockey. The NFL, MLB, and even the WWE paid tribute to the Gaudreaus in recent weeks.
The funerals occured over the weekend, which will hopefully help the world and family in their grief.
Meanwhile, we await the verdict on Higgins' case, and we'll report all the developments on this situation.
