Young university goaltender unexpectedly passes away at age 22
In some unfortunate news coming out of the hockey world, Henry Bradford, a young 22-year-old university goaltender, has sadly died.
Henry "Hank" Bradford, a star goaltender with the University of Oregon Hockey team, is dead. This comes after an emotional social media post announcing his death by the UO Hockey team. He was 22 years old. Bradford had been playing with the Ducks since 2021 and rapidly became an impactful player on the ice and off it for this team.
According to the newspaper, Bradford's mother, Karin Erickson Bradford, was quoted as saying her son's sudden death could have possibly been caused by a "cardiac event" that occurred in his apartment. However small the preciseness of the details is, in itself, the news brought infinite sadness to both the hockey world and to his family and friends. Hank left an empty spot in the hearts of all who knew and liked him. The University of Oregon Hockey team paid him a tribute.
Bradford was known not only for his qualities in the sport but also for his character and warmth. He was dear to everyone whom he crossed. Indeed, it showed from the outpouring of grief and support that there was a deep mark he had created among those around him upon news of his passing.
Although the university has not said one word officially about the tragedy, the whole campus is in mourning over the death of this very promising young athlete. Understandably, the University of Oregon had not made any immediate comments, as the situation is really sensitive, and people are quite shocked.
The death of Hank Bradford is a great loss for the University of Oregon and its hockey program. What an exceptional young man he was: sensitive and polite. He had meant so much more than just a player: he was a friend, a son, and an example to many. It will take a long period before one gets to feel the whole impact of his loss, but his memory will not be erased from the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. Rest in peace, Hank.
