The Minnesota Wild had a tough start to the season, but they are now back in the hunt for a playoff spot. However, the team's goaltending is still a major concern. As such, the team is now reportedly looking to acquire a goalie from on rebuilding Canadian team.

Minnesota Wild Looking To Canadiens For Help In Goal With Potential Trade

The Wild have been running a tandem of Marc-Andre Fleury and Filip Gustavsson this year. Both goalies have been rather disappointing though meaning the team will very likely want to move on from one of them in order to upgrade in net. Reportedly, the team may be looking to add a goalie from the Montreal Canadiens. According to Quebec based TVA sports, the Wild may have interest in Jake Allen

Allen Leads Canadiens Goaltenders In Key Statistic

As of New Year's Eve, Allen has lead all Canadiens goalies in goals saved above expected, an advanced stat that has become a benchmark performance rating for NHL goaltenders. Allen leads the team with 1.9 goals saved above expected, despite the team being rather poor in general.
While this statistic is not the be-all end-all for goalies, it is a good sign for the Habs that Allen leads the team here. He is the goaltender that makes the most sense for the team to trade as he is the least likely to be involved in the team's long-term plans. Notably, the team has been running three goaltenders as well, adding to the incentives for the team to trade him.
The Wild goaltenders meanwhile have not fared so well this season. Both Fleury and Gustavsson have put up sub-par numbers across the board, making goaltending an obvious target as their first place to improve at this year's trade deadline. Look for the Wild to be active on the goaltending market in the coming months.
