Big changes are happening with the Nashville Predators.
The new General Manager, Barry Trotz, made some bold moves in the free-agent market and surprised everyone by trading away important players.
The most surprising move was when they decided to let go of Matt Duchene. But now, after everything has settled down, there are rumors of another possible trade that almost happened.
According to Elliotte Friedman, Trotz was considering trading Evgeny Kuznetsov for Duchene. However, the Washington Capitals chose to keep Kuznetsov and were not interested in getting Duchene. Because of this, Duchene ended up being put on waivers and the Predators welcomed Ryan O'Reilly to their team instead.
Is Trotz trying to recreate past success by reuniting with Kuznetsov? After all, they won the Stanley Cup together in 2018.
"Before Nashville signed Ryan O'Reilly, and they might've done it anyway, I don't know, but they were talking to Washington about Kuznetsov, l wonder if it was a Kuznetsov-for-Duchene deal."
